Reclaiming What Was Wrongfully Taken

Reclaiming Lost Energy from Oppressors

When I experienced oppression, it felt like an invasive force had stolen my energy, taking away my confidence, sense of power, and self-belief. Although, as my wiser, conscious self, I understand that oppressors act out of their own weaknesses, insecurities, and unhealed wounds, I must still repair the parts of myself that were damaged through this process.

Maybe I want to be a nice person. Maybe I believe the world should be full of good people. Or perhaps I’m being naive, thinking that if I’m a good boy, I will eventually get to heaven. It could be a combination of all these things.

The reality is, no matter how good of a person I choose to be, and no matter how well-intentioned I live my life, I must be aware that there are toxic people out there. As much as I’d like to believe I live within enlightened communities and relationships, I can only be responsible for my own development, perspective, and healing.

I cannot be responsible for someone else’s behavior, for whether they choose to heal their wounds, and whether or not I must clean up after they leave their mess. What I can do is go inside, awaken the resourceful part of myself that can channel a powerful celestial cleaner to clear the toxic air I allowed in. At the end of the day, it is my life, which means it was my party, and I allowed that guest in.

Now that I have realised

this particular guest doesn’t appreciate what I have to offer, and I’ve finally come to terms with kicking them out of my abode, it is time to do two things: first, purify the space of negative energies; and second, reclaim what was taken.

It’s like I have contacted the person or even gone around to their abode and asked them, “Hey, did you take something from my home? That doesn’t belong to you? It has sentimental value to me.” Let’s say they denied it, refused to admit it. Then I’m going to be firm about it because this very thing you took has sentimental value, I worked damn hard to get it, and I want it back. Guess what? I’m not asking you again.

Confidence, self-esteem, and self-belief are not so tangible; they’re difficult to call physical and the police won’t help.. By the time we wait for the karma police to arrive, we may as well have cultivated patience. In the meantime, I will use a very special practice to reclaim what was lost.

Kurukulla is a goddess of enchantment, magnetism, and magic, among many other things such as love, prosperity, and happiness. She has spanned across several cultures and countries and has been adopted into some of the oldest religions we know of, such as Hinduism. Kurukulla’s allure as a deity points to her existence before modern-day religion and her powerful influence, leading to her adoption into various pantheons.

The testament of love, enchantment, and magic has lasted throughout time. After all, we have been writing, singing, and performing about love for a very long time.

Kurukulla holds a bow and arrow, much like the Cupid angel of love, but her work isn’t just about getting the ideal relationship. This bow and arrow are about being able to skillfully go out into the world to hunt down very specific targets and then use wisdom and compassion to bring them into our lives.

One of the ways I have been reclaiming my energy is by doing a particular practice that involves Kurukulla’s powerful bow and unbreakable string. So powerful and unbreakable that they have lasted several thousand years—at least, that’s what we know.

Here is a practice I invite you to join me in. You can recite this mantra or simply relax in the meditation, allowing these arrows to move out from your heart as you invoke Kurukulla with her mantra, bringing back what was taken from you, back to you where it belongs.

Remember that Kurukulla is also the embodiment of love, and often her arrows are made of flowers, symbolizing that wherever they strike, they also transform those spaces into love. So, although it may feel as though within this Tantric-style meditation you are firing arrows towards your oppressors, know that aside from reclaiming what was yours, you are also touching them with your higher self, enabling them to either quickly transform or eventually reincarnate into a frequency more useful for the cohesive relationship of humanity.
